Event description

Description

For the past 7 years, Henry Hudson’s primary artistic medium has been Plasticine. With this material, he creates ‘sculpted paintings’ that have a depth and textural quality that sets them apart from traditional oils on canvas.

Thematically, Hudson’s work covers wide ground – from exploring social stereotypes to satirising the madness of contemporary life – while making reference to some of the greatest of historical artists, including Hogarth, Van Gogh and the School of London painters. For the artist Marc Quinn, who collects his work, ‘Hudson aligns himself with an irreverent and eccentric British tradition in art [and] has reinvented this tradition in his visual, trembling, vibrating, sculpted paintings.’

Hudson is currently devising a new series of tapestries inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins. Join us at this studio to be among the first to gain insight into this body of work and to discover more about Hudson’s creative process.

This is a unique opportunity to meet Henry Hudson and experience the creative environment of a studio that is rarely open to the public.

The evening will conclude with a light dinner at a Bacaro near the studio.
