Event description

Description

Henry Lamb was one of the leading figurative painters of the first part of the twentieth century: a close associate of Augustus John and a founder member of the Camden Town Group in 1911. Not only accomplished as a musician, he trained as a doctor but is best known as a portrait painter. This is the first major retrospective of his work since 1984 and will show his prodigious talent not only as a portrait artist but also his townscapes, landscapes and early subject pictures of Brittany and Ireland as well as his work in both World Wars. We will be taken round the exhibition by the curator Harry Moore–Gywn – co-author of Henry Lamb Out of the Shadows which will be published in conjunction with the exhibition.
