Henry Potter and the Season of Giving
Thu 1 December 2016, 17:00 – 19:00 GMT
HENRY POTTER AND THE SEASON OF GIVING
Christmas is the season of giving, when we are encouraged to support those less fortunate than us. In addition, for some Christmas would not be Christmas without having seen particular movies, such as It’s a Wonderful Life and a Christmas Carol, both films which include money lenders (Henry Potter and Ebenezer Scrooge) as cold hearted and uncaring for their local communities.
Join Michael Randall, Law School Lecturer, to discuss what these movies show us about the attitudes towards banking and the true (financial) meaning of these Christmas movies.
The event is taking place on Thursday 1st December, 17.00 in the Lord Hope Building Level 2 LH226A and LH227, with a reception from 18.00-19.00.
