Event description

Description

A unique event for medical herbalists, naturopaths and medical practitioners to gain in-depth training into the herbal treatment of Lyme disease and its co-infections.

Lead speaker, clinical herbalist Julie McIntyre has specialised in Lyme disease for 15 years and helped around 10,000 people with Lyme. She brings a depth of experience and insight into the protocols, herbs, supplements and support treatments that have helped recovery, with a deep empathy for the plight of patients. Also speaking will be Dr Jack Lambert, an infectious disease specialist, on working with antibiotics and herbs, and Dr Armin Schwarzbach on understanding and interpreting test results. Organised by research herbalist Monica Wilde, this is also an excellent opportunity to meet other herbalists working in this area who are happy to share their experiences, and to join a cross-practice clinical trial to measure the outcomes for patients. We will cover herbs used in both North America and Europe.

Please note that this particular event is only suitable for certified practitioners and not for patients seeking to know more about Lyme disease. For more information about patient events please join the Facebook group /LymeDiseaseAlba

FAQs

Are there more details about the content covered in the course?

Yes there are more details about the course content at https://napiers.net/lyme-practitioner-training-2020.html

Are there participant requirements to enter the event?

You should be able to prove that you are a practitioner such as a medical herbalist, naturopath or other medical practitioner. Forms of ID include a copy of your diploma or degree certificate, or insurance schedule, or a clinic brochure. If you are a member of the public with an interest in Lyme disease please contact the Facebook group Lyme Disease Alba at facebook.com/groups/LymeDiseaseAlba to find out about suitable public events.

Can students attend?

Students studying for a diploma or degree in herbal medicine, naturopathy or a related medical discipline may attend. You should be able to provide enrollment confirmation as ID. We are sorry that we cannot offer a student discount as the fees have already been substantially subsidised.

Will there be any assisted places?

We are extremely keen that rural herbalists who could not normally afford to attend training events do attend. These practitioners are often those working in the worst Lyme infected areas of the country. We have applied for funding to provide some grants to enable all herbalists with an interest in Lyme to attend. If you need financial assistance please contact us and explain, and we will try to help.

Can I get CPD points?

You will be awarded 18 CPD points and given a certificate of attendance if requested.

What about accommodation?

There are rooms at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel where the venue will be held. Edinburgh also has lots of hotels, bed and breakfasts, Airbnb rooms to suit every budget. For those on a tight budget we recommend the excellent youth hostel https://www.hostellingscotland.org.uk/hostels/edinburgh-central/ but book well in advance.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The venue is just below the Royal Mile towards the Scottish Parliament, Arthurs Seat and Holyrood Palace. It is a 12 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station, or a 15 minute walk from the buses and tram stops at the east end of Princes Street. Edinburgh City Centre is easily accessed on foot and by public transport. There are some car parks and on-street parking but with excellent tram and bus services, cars can be left at the Park and Rides on the edge of the city. For those flying into Edinburgh Airport there are direct tram and bus links to the City Centre.

What can I bring into the event?

You can bring notebooks but please do not bring recording equipment, nor record the event with your mobile phone or other device.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You can contact Monica Wilde c/o advice@napiers.net about the event with any questions.

What's the refund policy?

You can get a full refund up to 30 days before the event. After that refunds will be discretionary and any finance charges that the organisers are liable for on your behalf may be deducted.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes please bring the printed ticket to the event to save time. If you lose your ticket you will need some identification. The name on the ticket or registration must match the person so if you want to change it please update your registration information in good time before the event.
