Have a go at pressing flowers in a traditional wooden flower press with Anna from Branch & Brush Studios.
You will be able to create your own herbarium/ floating flower frame with a selection of dried and pressed flowers to choose from. There will also be an opportunity to take home your filled flower press for an extra charge.
There will also be a selection of herbarium specimens from our University archive for you to explore for inspiration, including pressings from plant hunters George Forrestt , Joseph and William Hooker, and Mary Wyatt, one of the earliest female scientific collectors, whose Algae Danmonienses represents a seminal study of the British marine algae.
£35 to include all the materials needed to have a go at flower pressing and to make your own herbarium, tuition, hot drinks and biscuits.

Optional extra £30 charge if you would like to take home a filled flower press (participants can pay cash or card on the day for this extra). This is a separate item to what you are making on the day, the presses are made by Rob, Anna's husband and can be used for future pressings at home.
