Event description

Description

The wild and dangerous landscapes of the Scottish Highlands have long inspired gothic literature.

Join author Charles E McGarry and enter the world of his singular supernatural sleuth Leo Moran in his debut novel The Ghost of Helen Addison. As Leo seeks to use his psychic insights to solve the murder of a young woman, he has to leave familiarity of Glasgow’s West End for the foreboding but beautiful Loch Dhonn, based on real-life Loch Awe.

Leading us even further into the dark allure of the mountains and glens will be Madeline Tait, who commented on an early draft of Charles’ book. She’ll share her enthusiasm for the work of the, once very popular but now largely forgotten, Victorian novelist Margaret Oliphant whose novel The Wizard’s Son is also set at Loch Awe.

Prepare to enter the wild places of Scotland and the dark side of the Scottish psyche…
