Carbon Literacy is a key way for organisations to gain an awareness of the causes and impacts of climate change and an understanding of carbon emissions. It provides a great foundation for individuals, teams and organisations to begin to take steps towards reducing their carbon emissions and become more environmentally sustainable.

What are the benefits from doing it?

As an individual, Carbon Literacy is an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised accreditation. You will be able to understand more about your carbon footprint and pledge to make a difference.

As a team, Carbon Literacy allows you to collaborate and generate ideas on topics such as what does a low carbon heritage organisation look like and the co-benefits that historic environments and climate actions have.

As an organisation, your staff will understand the impacts of climate change and actions, and will support behaviour change across the organisation, which will contribute to sustainability and Net Zero goals.

As a sector, this training will help us collectively make a difference through taking responsibility and committing to lowering our emissions.

The focus of Carbon Literacy is about empowering people to take action. To become certified as Carbon Literate you must pledge to undertake an individual and group action that will help you and your organisation to achieve net zero. The £15 (member) and £30 (non-member) charge for this course covers your Carbon Literacy Trust certification fee.

This course will also run in June and September:

9th & 16th June - book tickets

9th & 16th September - book tickets

Delivered by Keep Scotland Beautiful, thanks to funding from Historic Environment Scotland.

*Organisations must be based in Scotland. Local authorities, higher education establishments and private owners are not eligible for this training.

**This course is only available for one person per organisation.
