Heritage Futures
Event Information
Description
While much of the interest heritage has attracted has been concerned with the preservation of the past, however imagined, there is a growing realisation that heritage is also, and perhaps even more so, about the future. What kind of heritage do we want future generations to have? Is that ours to decide? Moreover, commercialisation arguably has turned heritage into a resource and a commodity. If that is indeed the case, is there then also a "futures" market for heritage, and if so, what does that look like and how does it work? These are some of the questions we want to explore in this workshop, which will be led by Prof. Katriina Siivonen (Turku University, Finland) and Prof. Ullrich Kockel (LfSS and Heriot-Watt University).
