Event description

Description

This is an opportunity to experience a rarely available tour of the Bristol aero engine collection of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust. Please note that site access requires pre-registration and booking for guided tours, which will take place at 0900, 1000, 1100 and 1200 on 9th September 2017.
The Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust display at Patchway includes examples of many of the engines built at the Bristol site since 1920, including the Bristol Jupiter, Mercury and Hercules piston engines, many gas turbines and (subject to availability) an Olympus 593 from Concorde, together with the unique Pegasus engine from the Harrier 'jump jet'. Several exhibits are sectioned and rotate to show their operation. Knowledgeable guides will explain the history of these engines and answer any questions during a forty-five minute tour.
Please note that, as this is a secure site, the Trust will require contact details and nationality for all attendees. Tour groups will be asked to assemble outside Gate 5 on Gypsy Patch Lane and will be escorted at all times. Please note that toilet facilities are limited and refreshments are not available. The tour is not suitable for children under 10 and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Entrance is free, but booking for this event is essential and will close at 8am on Saturday 2nd September.
