About this event

The Faculty of Engineering's main home is the grade II listed Sir Frederick Mappin Building, a space dedicated to engineering for almost 150 years. Built in stages between 1904 & 1913 Mappin was linked up with the original Technical School of 1885 to increase the facilities of the then Faculty of Applied Science. In 2020 old and new merged again when the Heartspace was built to connect the Sir Frederick Mappin Building and the Central Wing to bring the building up to date whilst retaining the integrity of the building.

The tour will include a visit to the John Carr Library and Mappin Hall, and can be followed by a tour of the Turner Glass Museum.

The meeting point for the tour is the Engineering Heartspace, 3 Portobello Street, Sheffield S1 4DT. Please note that the event times have been set 15 minutes prior to the start of the tours to allow time for check-in - tours will begin on the hour.
