On Heritage Open Day, join us for a captivating lecture by Graham Fisher, MBE, author and trustee of the British Glass Foundation. Drawing from his richly illustrated book Stourbridge Glass Museum: How It Came into Being, Graham will guide us through the extraordinary architectural rebirth of the Stourbridge Glass Museum. Beginning with the abandoned and fire-damaged remains of the former Stuart Crystal factory, this talk tells the story of how a passionate group of individuals came together to form the British Glass Foundation, and over time transformed the derelict site into today’s Stourbridge Glass Museum.

The British Glass Foundation (BGF), a registered charity, was formally initiated on 30th March 2010 with the vision of safeguarding the internationally significant Stourbridge Glass Collection. Thanks to the dedication of its trustees and the vital support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the long campaign to create a new home for the collection finally came to fruition. On 9th April 2022, after years of planning, fundraising, and restoration, the Stourbridge Glass Museum officially opened its doors, offering a world-class cultural and architectural landmark for the region.
