Description

A Heritage Strategy for Sheffield - Have Your Say: Cohesion and Community Pride

This workshop is part of a programme of themed workshops to give YOU the opportunity to contribute to what goes in the Heritage Strategy for Sheffield (Strategy planned to launch in Autumn/Winter 2017/18)

Our Aspiration

‘Sheffield is a City that cares for and celebrates its high quality heritage environment and stories that connect past, present and future. Its heritage is a recognised part of how Sheffield attracts trade, talent and tourism as well as a means of engaging its communities. Its heritage organisations are flourishing.’

Background

Sheffield has a large number of small heritage groups, societies, and other organisations who have an interest in heritage – from universities to private sector companies. The various groups have come together under the umbrella of ‘Joined Up Heritage Sheffield’ (JuHS). In April 2016, for the first time, JuHS organised a Heritage Conference in Sheffield. A key outcome from this conference was a shared desire to create a strategy which will set out how organisations across the City can work together to better conserve and promote Sheffield’s heritage. These “Have your Say” workshops are part of a programme that will deliver a Heritage Strategy for Sheffield for the very first time.
