About this event

Nottinghamshire has a strong horticultural tradition going back to the creation of the great ducal estates of Welbeck, Clumber,  Worksop and Thoresby in the 17th and 18th centuries. This talk draws on the wealth of gardening heritage remaining in the  county. Philip Jones, a former local studies librarian, is now a freelance garden historian, currently researching the Victorian and Edwardian gardens at Newstead Abbey and its head gardeners.
