Speaker Bio - Bryony Redwood-Turner
Bryony is a Development Officer at Locality based in Leeds. Bryony has a strong communities background with over a decade working in the VCSE sector.
Her experience includes developing relationships in the community, with corporate partners and funders; bid-writing; project mobilisation and management; impact, evaluation and learning; group facilitation; community engagement; and communications.
Bryony has worked on a number of national programmes, providing 1:1 consultancy support to community groups, such as the DLUHC funded Community Ownership Fund support programme working with at risk assets across Yorkshire and Humber, Local Trusts Incorporation and Assets support for Big Local groups and with Leeds Council on their Community Asset Transfer support programme.
Most recently Bryony worked on Locality’s Climate Pilot, supporting members to address climate issues through a range of interventions such as organisational sustainability planning, carbon auditing and circular economy initiatives.
Bryony works with the policy team at Locality on our health and wellbeing agenda. As members of the VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance, Bryony has contributed to key research on the role of the VCSE in health ecosystems, community anchors and the wider determinants of health, and community wealth-building in integrated care systems.
Prior to working at Locality Bryony worked for a community anchor in Leeds, managing a community asset transfer of a heritage asset. She also has experience with and training in community-led housing and community shares.
Heritage Toolbox
Heritage Toolbox is a pilot programme has been commissioned by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and will be delivered by Heritage Network and Locality. It is part of the £2.3 million You Can Make It Here programme. Funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, You Can Make It Here aims to support and grow the region’s creative sector through a range of training and investment opportunities.
Heritage Network
Heritage Network (previously Heritage Trust Network) is the UK’s umbrella organisation for not-for-profits rescuing and restoring historic buildings, structures and places. We’re a member-led organisation with networking and peer-to-peer advice and learning at its heart.
Locality
Locality is the national membership network supporting local community organisations to be strong and successful. There are high numbers of Locality members based across all parts of Yorkshire. A significant number of Locality members run community hubs often with heritage value but not necessarily listed.
