Heritage Walking Tour of Warmfield cum Heath
Round our Way - Forged, Sustained and Saved by Women
The 'Round our Way' volunteers has teamed up with the 'I Love Heath Common' campaign group to offer this collaborative event, taking place on the day of the Heath Kite Festival on Sunday, 28 September.
Join us on this fascinating heritage walk which takes you into the heart of Heath's herstory, her secrets, her artists, her writers, her engineers, her architecture and her landscape. Learn how women like Dame Mary Bolles, Lady Green, Eliza Eve Gleadall, Marion Walker and Louise-Adelaide de Bourbon Conde were inspired by the scenery and how their legacies in the field of art, botany, engineering, education and health, continue locally, nationally and internationally, to the present day.
Ticket Information
Tickets for this special fundraising event are priced at £15.00 per person.
The proceeds of this walk will be split between the 'I Love Heath Common' and Dream Time Creative. The 'I Love Heath 'campaign to save the Heath from development by Harmony Energy whose intentionis to place 79 solar batteries within the landscape of Heath will destroy vital women's history much of which is yet to be discovered. Dream Time Creative's Forgotten Women of Wakefield team continue to raise fund to enable a statue to Florence Beaumont, Wakefield's most influential daughter/suffragist, without whom all women would not have achieved the vote in 1928, to be commissioned and sited by 2028.

Raising funds to Recognise Women's Achievements
This event is one of a series of walks and talks, all being done to raise money for blue plaques for women. Did you know that each new plaque costs between £700 and £800? There are currently more than 33 plaques with dedicated female names in Wakefield, which makes us the top city in the UK to recognise our Forgotten Women BUT there are lots more women whose stories need to be told and acknowledged. Hear about some of them on the tour and help us to raise the much needed funds for our next project.
Learn more about the Forgotten Women of Wakefield project and see how important it is that women are properly recognised for their achievements.
