Face to face session - no virtual alternative.
Location: Norman Centre, Bignold Rd, Norwich, NR3 2QZ
Time: Arrival 09:45, Training 10:00 - 15:30
Tea/coffee will be available, but we are unable to provide lunch so please bring your own.
There is an onsite café and vending machines available at the venue.
Parking available on site.
Who is the session for?
This session is designed for those working in specialist drug and alcohol services within the voluntary and statutory sectors and other professionals dealing directly with people who use heroin and other opioids.
Session objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will have:
• Increased their knowledge and understanding of opiates and their illicit use
• Looked at some of the latest developments in the field including the emergence of strong, synthetic opioids such as the nitazene group
• Increased their awareness of high risk practices such as groin injecting
• Considered how to respond to heroin users with more confidence including interventions that reduce harm
• Reflected on their roles and responsibilities when working with people who use heroin and methadone
• Increased their knowledge of the role of substitute prescribing in the treatment of heroin addiction

- Late cancellations will also be charged a fee of £100.

Please be aware;
- This training includes using paraphernalia and injecting equipment and injecting into a rubber arm.
- Photos will be taken at the event and a list of all the professional attendees, their organisations and email addresses may be emailed to all after the event for their own ‘useful contact sheet’.
- Each attendee will get a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ once the feedback form is completed following the event.
