Hertford Conversation: Ed Balls
Tue 13 June 2017, 17:30 – 18:30 BST
Ed Balls was a Labour Party MP between 2005-2015, and served as Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families under Gordon Brown. Following the defeat of the Labour party in the 2010 General Election, he went on to briefly hold the roles of Secretary of State for Education and Shadow Home Secretary. He then became Shadow Chancellor between 2011-2015.
Following being voted out of office in 2015, he became a Senior Fellow at Harvard University, and was appointed as a Visiting Professor to King's College London. He is now the Chairman of Norwich City Football Club, and appeared on Strictly Come Dancing last year. He became a patron of the British Stammering Association in 2010.
Ed will be in conversation with Will Hutton (Hertford Principal and Guardian columnist) discussing contemporary British politics, Donald Trump and Brexit. There will be a short discussion, followed by an open question and answer session with the audience.
