Join us in the beautiful surroundings of the Bodleian Library for a talk given by Hertford alumnus, Tom Fletcher CMG, following the release of his book Naked Diplomacy. This will be followed by a drinks reception.
As a former British Ambassador, Tom will discuss the changing nature of power and diplomacy in response to rapid technological change, and the global challenges we now face. From Brexit to Trump to the next migration crisis, how well equipped are we to respond? And how can citizens engage more effectively to shape the way that governments react? Tom will draw on his experiences as a 'naked diplomat', using new tools to engage the public and drive positive change. And as a former No. 10 adviser to three Prime Ministers, he will share insights on how foreign policy is made and implemented in the Digital Age.
Timings and venues: 17.30 - 18.30, talk by Tom Fletcher followed by Q&A in Convocation House; followed by drinks in the Divinity School until 19.30. (Click here for the Bodleian site map)
Charge: £5 for students (special rate and includes drinks)
