About this event
Welcome to the Hertfordshire Community Energy Conference 2025: From Ideas to Impact
Join Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE) and Green Heat Coop at the Hertfordshire Development Centre on October 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM (Europe/London) for a day filled with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and innovative ideas on bringing local energy projects to communities across Hertfordshire.
What is community energy?
Community energy puts people at the heart of the energy system. It brings local people together to understand, generate, own, use, and save energy.
Community energy projects are normally member-controlled and democratic, and set up to bring benefits to the local area, for example:
- by developing a community-owned solar array, and using profits to fund neighbourhood projects or support other community groups
- by providing advice households struggling with bills and those considering home energy upgrades
- by investing in community e-bikes, supporting residents to use active travel
These initiatives all aim to reduce energy costs and improve sustainability while fostering a co-operative spirit.
Why attend?
If you are interested in learning more about community energy or have a project in mind, this event is the perfect opportunity to discover the key steps to move forward. You will learn about the national context for community energy, projects already happening in Hertfordshire, and the funding and support available to help you get started with a project in your area.
We'll be joined by Hertford Energy Now, DESNZ, Community Energy England, and the Greater South East Net Zero Hub to ensure there is everything you need to know about community energy. There will be plenty of time for networking with these organisations and to connect with individuals and groups who are also keen to develop community energy in Hertfordshire.
Let's work together to create brighter futures in all parts of our county!
