Hertfordshire Way Walk in stages - March 2017 stage
Sat 25 March 2017, 09:30 – 17:30 GMT
This walk is the one section of the Hertfordshire Way (http://www.fhw.org.uk), a 194-mile circular route along public rights of way, which we are undertaking in 16 monthly stages. Each leg is a comfortable day's walk averaging 11 miles each. (The longest is 15 miles). You're welcome to come, with or without dog(s) and you can join for as many or as few stages as you like. (See below for all the dates.) We will meet at around 9.30am at the start of each stage. All you'll need to bring is water and a packed lunch.
THE BIGGER PICTURE:
The aim of this walking group is to raise funds for an epic trek which organiser, Robert Donkers, is undertaking in 2018 along the US Pacific Crest Trail. The PCT is a 2650-mile-long walking trail that runs from the US border with Mexico in the south to Vancouver, in Canada, in the north. The journey will take around 4 to 5 months to complete.
By walking the Pacific Crest Trail Robert aims to raise awareness of the barbaric dog meat trade in South East Asia as well as to raise funds for organisation which work to fight this trade, to put an end to the inhumane slaughter of dogs for food.
That’s why we’re asking you for a contribution of £10 per person for each stage of the Hertfordshire Way. All contributions togo towards the cost of walking the Pacific Crest Trail.
