ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
Explore the science behind what makes them tick and design your own
Compare Hexbugs to real insects and discover the world of biomimicry, the latest watchword of scientific endeavour: where humans look to copy behaviour and patterns of the natural world to achieve solutions to problems.
Experience the world of engineers and designers by analysing the features of Hexbugs. Discover how they work and in doing so try some of the processes yourself. Design your own original model.
Fire your imagination and perhaps your creation will be the Hexbug of the future?
Benefits to children
During the course of this workshop, children will be working individually or in teams to expand their problem solving and evaluation capabilities, practise mathematical skills and understand basic computer programming. Children will have opportunities to explore what is meant by automation and acquire an understanding of engineering.
