Find out how it feels to be a potter for a day, join in the fun with ceramist Nicola Ashley and artists Ellie Keeble, Rhiannon Moxham and Ella Charter as they open their ceramic studio, based at Hills Road College Cambridge, as a Hey Clay! event venue.
These free workshops are your chance to get creative, enjoy and celebrate everything clay! Unleash your inner potter, learn simple hand building techniques and bring out the budding artist in you this spring.
We will be teaching how to use traditional tools as well as feeding your imagination with some secret ingredients experimenting with plants, herbs and leaves to explore the wide range of textures and patterns that can be made in clay to create interesting surfaces and forms.
Open to beginners and craftmakers alike of all ages, come and make a simple pinch pot, choose to make and decorate your own ceramic tile or throw down a challenge and have-a-go on the potter’s wheel.
Bring your favourite leaves and herbs from your garden to see spring come to life in your very own ceramic pieces.
And if you’re all fired up with enthusiasm for the item you’ve made, leave it with us and we’ll finish the process in the kiln ready for you to collect later.
