About Woking History Society:
Our primary objective is the education of the public in the history of the Borough of Woking and nearby parishes. Our main activity is a programme of eight talks each year by visiting and home-grown speakers on aspects of the history of Woking and other historical topics. There is always time to socialize over a cup of tea or coffee afterwards and we welcome visitors as well as members. Other activities include visits to places of historic interest and opportunities to work with fellow organizations such as The Lightbox, the Surrey Archaeological Society, Friends of Woking Palace and the Surrey History Centre. We offer the opportunity to take part in original research. Membership is open to anyone interested in exploring the past.
