Description

Fire Strategy in hi-rise buildings, with reference to the 2017 Grenfell Tragedy

The 2017 Grenfell fire tragedy has shaken up the construction industry. The matter affects architects, designers, clients, building owners, developers amongst others. Rainscreen cladding is a current ‘trend’ in the construction industry, and an understanding of regulations is a must.

There has been rumour of the fire / building regulations being tightened up and / or amended over the following months / years, following the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire tragedy

This Constructing Excellence Liverpool Club seminar event introduces industry professionals, who are advising the Government following the tragedy and are also fire safety consultancy experts.

The presentation will address the following;

  • Hi-rise strategy following the Grenfell tower tragedy
  • Industry wide case studies (good and bad)
  • Designer / client / developer / building owner responsibilities, in terms of regulations (AD B1, B2, Red Book etc), specification (surface spread of flame, smoke / gas emissions performance, burning droplets performance, combustibility, compartmentation, fire stops etc)
  • Contractor / installer responsibilities, complying with specification, sign off from Building control etc
