Avon Fire & Rescue Service is excited to announce its first ever public Rescue Day hosted at Hicks Gate Fire Station, working in partnership with the UKRO (United Kingdom Rescue Organisation).

At this event you will see rescue teams from all over the country participate in heavy rescue challenges, focusing on Road Traffic Collision (RTC) and trauma care/first aid. There will also be a joint training exercise involving Urban Search and Rescue (USAR).

The event will be open to the public for the first time and you will be able to see up close what Avon Fire & Rescue Service does on a daily bases, learn about important road safety information that will keep you and your family safe, and find out about potential recruitment opportunities in Avon Fire & Rescue Service. There will be multiple demonstrations throughout the day, allowing you to watch some of the most highly skilled Firefighters in the country work in demanding situations.

The event is completely free and there are two time slots available:

• 10:00 - 12:00
• 13:00 - 15:00

Please note, you will only be allowed you on site if you have your tickets on the day.

Whilst the majority of the event is family friendly, parts of it will not be suitable for young children due to the graphic nature of the exercises that will be undertaken. Access to this section of the day will be by parental discretion, please take note of the signage on the day.

Parking on site will be limited to green badge users only so all other visitors are asked to park opposite the station on Durley Hill.
