Fancy getting stuck into something creative, collaborative, and totally hands-on? Come along to our Mark Making Workshop – a fun, informal evening where we dive into the playful side of making collaborative artworks!
We’ll be exploring mark making at the Paper Factory – using shape, gesture, and texture to build visual language – and discovering how this simple but powerful practice can lead to big ideas and exciting collaborations. Whether you’re a seasoned artist, a creative person or just curious, this is a brilliant chance to connect, experiment, and explore the collosal factory site that this year's festival was held.
Led by our Visual Arts Curator, Jill Boualaxai, this workshop also gives you an insight into how our festival themes are developed through collaborative workshopping. Plus, there’s a Q&A and plenty of time to chat, so bring your questions and get inspired!

The paper factory is a brilliant place for inspiration and mark making, as it is colossal and has so many different nooks and crannies to explore. It is also an insight into how this year's festival themes were developed.
The entrance used during the festival is now permanently closed. So we will be using the other door!
Yes! Please do! Just make sure everyone books a free ticket so we can keep an eye on numbers.
Yes! You are more than welcome to come to come here. If you are feeling anxious about turning up to the event on your own then please come and talk to me anytime (Evie). I will be greeting people at the door on arrival and introducing the workshop, so you will know who I am.
Public Transport is a great way to find us! We are only a five minute walk from the tram, and lothian buses have plenty of services that connect you to our location.
