Hidden Harm impact of family substance use - training for parents/carers

Eclypse deliver drug and alcohol support services for young people in Manchester, and are part of Change Grow Live. We are offering free training designed for parents and carers in Manchester, though anyone with an interest in young people's issues will gain a unique awareness from these sessions. We offer specific sessions designed around people working in this area, or those hoping to in future - see our other Eventbrite sessions if you are interested in these.

The experience of children and young people living with and impacted by problem alcohol and other drug use within the family unit has come to be known as Hidden Harm. This is because the harm children and young people experience is often hidden, or if seen, is sometimes not recognised as harm and these children and young people, often do not get the support they need.

This session aims to raise awareness around the impact that substance misuse has on children in particular - but also on the whole family.

Content:

• To increase awareness of drugs and alcohol and the impact it can have
• To increase confidence and awareness around the impact of parental/family substance misuse and ‘Hidden Harm’
• To ensure appropriate responses to young people whose lives are affected by parental or familial substance misuse
• To have a better understanding of the Eclypse service and the support we provide to young people and families across Manchester
• Opportunity to ask questions
