HIDDEN is a new play by Vickie Donoghue (Mudlarks, High Tide Festival). It’s a one hour piece of theatre, adapted from Miriam Halahmy’s novel HIDDEN, a Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Week, who called it “a book to counter bigotry” and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal. The play, which has been developed in collaboration with schools and young refugees, will be directed by Stuart Mullins.
In a post Brexit UK what do young people think about the refugee crisis and immigration? There is a lot of talk about British Values, but what does that mean to them? How do young refugees feel about living here? Set over 24 hours in the life of white British schoolgirl Alix and her classmate Iraqi refugee Samir, the play tells the story of their dilemma when faced with the prospect of saving trafficked asylum seeker Mohammed on Hayling Island.
