Event description

Description

Join Hideo Furukawa and Toshiki Okada as they take a walk on the weird side of urban life in fiction newly published in English translation. Furukawa pays homage to Haruki Murakami in his book Slow Boat, a circular, mesmeric narrative of a young man attempting to escape Tokyo and the lovers who pursue him. Okada’s book The End Of The Moment We Had, skewers the thrills and anxieties of modern Tokyo with two characters’ torrid affair in a love hotel, and a woman trapped inside her squalid flat by memories of her past. The authors will read and discuss their work and take questions from the audience.
