An short walk that begins with a steady climb from the car park past Low Dam to the beautiful High Dam constructed in 1835 to provide water power to the Stott Park bobbin mill. From here the route goes around the tarn created by the dam before descending to Finsthwaite and visiting the historic St Peter's Church and finally to the Stott Park bobbin mill itself.
Please note the bobbin mill is owned by English Heritage and entry is not included in this walk. If you wish to go into the mill the costs are set out on the Stott Park page of the English Heritage website.
Paths are generally good but there are some sections that will be muddy and/or slippery in poor weather.
Grade 3 walks may include some moderate ascents and descents. The path surface might be earth, grass or stone and – while generally firm – it will have some loose or uneven sections, or be soft underfoot after rain. You will also encounter steps, gates or stiles and narrow sections. Most of our grade 3 walks are suitable for families.
Participants will need to dress appropriately for the terrain and weather.
Your confirmation email will include full details - please read it carefully.
