Water City Bristol (a project involving artists, academics and interested others) are curating this celebration of the tides at and around the Lamplighter's Pub in Shirehampton.
Inspired by a similar celebration in Pembrokeshire, the day will involve local people and others interested in the tides and tidal heritages of Bristol and the River Avon, taking part in a series of activities between a low and high tide in a famous riverside location in Bristol (including the lovely Lamplighter's pub).
There will be music and general merriment, poetry and play, screen-printing with mud, making of custom beer mats with a printing press on the back of a bike, a guided walk onto Lamplighters Marsh, the launching of model boats on the high tide, in the dark - with fireworks, information displays about the river, the old Pill Ferry, the tides themselves, and maybe some mystery guests sailing over from Pill!
The event is one in a series of activities under the banner Bristol Loves Tides, a collaborative project and is held in conjunction with Friends of Lamplighter's Marsh, as well as NOVA arts collective, Forgotten Landscapes, My Future My Choice, the Lamplighter's Pub and others.
All are welcome, please tell your friends and neighbours and come along to celebrate this phenomenon of nature!
Only 5 minutes' walk from Shirehampton Railway station.
