About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us at Leeds Beckett University for an insightful discussion on the future of manufacturing in West Yorkshire and the UK. With manufacturing accounting for 45% of exports and over 60% of business R&D spend, we’ll explore how the sector can harness academic expertise and student talent to drive innovation and fuel business growth. The event will highlight how collaboration between universities and businesses can help develop the skills needed for the next generation of leaders while supporting cutting-edge advancements in the industry. Through facilitated discussions and a panel of alumni working in manufacturing, we’ll dive into real-world examples of how higher education can fill skills gaps while playing a key role in solving industry challenges, advancing technology, and fostering a culture of innovation. It’s an exciting opportunity to connect, learn, and explore how we can shape the future of manufacturing together.

This event is part of Leeds Manufacturing Festival. Leeds Manufacturing Festival, organised by the Leeds Manufacturing Alliance, raises awareness of career opportunities in manufacturing for young people through a series of events, including career showcases, company visits, workplace tours, and the return of the festival awards to celebrate outstanding young talent and employers in the industry.
