Event description

Description

Anne Fraser Mcquarrie, Family Historian will be giving a talk at the MAC's Cafe on the fascinating and intriguing hidden gems that have been found in the Highland Archives.

Anne Fraser Macquarrie started working with the Highland Archives in 1997 and subsequently gained a postgraduate qualification in Family and Local History from Dundee University.

She is a Family Historian, based in Inverness. Her role includes carrying out in-depth family history research for customers and compiling their family trees. She believes her interest in this stems from her Grandfather who even knew the complete lineage of his sheepdogs and patented his own tartan.

In 2014 Anne wrote a book about the 300 year history of schools on the south side of Loch Ness, where many of her ancestors lived.

Out of work, Anne has been involved in Girl’s Brigade and has just finished a six year stint as the Girls’ Brigade Commissioner for the Highlands. She serves on the Clan Chattan Council; loves reading and is an active member of her church.

She has three happily married children, who between them all, have given her eight grand-children, to date!

She is a very interesting person who loves what she does including giving talks about family history and local history and makes it come alive. What she doesn’t know about family history no-one does.

Tea, coffee and cake will be available to purchase and the event is free to unpaid carers in Highland.
