Intro course on FGM, HBA & FM for Hampshire professionals—risks, signs, laws, reporting, and local referral guidance
Please note this training is for attendees in the HIPS (Hampshire) area.
This introductory course, available to all Hampshire professionals and volunteers working with children and young people, is part of a series of courses examining harmful practices. It will discuss the different types of Female Genital Mutilation, who might perform it and how girls are subjected to it, how to identify those that maybe at risk - the warning signs - and what to do if you are worried about a child or young person.
Learning Outcomes:
- Increase your knowledge and understanding of FGM, including the types of FGM and why/how it is performed
- Improve your understanding of the prevalence of FGM, including locally within Hampshire areas
- Gain an understanding of the legal frameworks surrounding FGM
- Gain an understanding into your roles and responsibilities in relation to FGM
- Identify who is ‘at risk’ of FGM
- Understand the key health risks and consequences of FGM
- Reinforcing the local referral procedure within Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton
