An Introduction to ‘Honour’ Based Abuse (HBA), Forced Marriage (FM) and Dowry Abuse
Please note this training is for attendees in the HIPS (Hampshire) area.
This introductory course, available to all Hampshire professionals and volunteers working with children and young people, is part of a series of courses examining harmful practices. It will help develop professional knowledge and seek to answer questions about what constitutes ‘Honour’ Based Abuse; the difference between arranged and forced marriage; the prevalence of this type of abuse; the communities it can affect; early signs and indicators and available support.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop an understanding of ‘Honour ‘Based Abuse (HBA), Forced Marriage (FM) and dowry abuse
- Learn how to recognise signs of HBA and FM
- Learn about laws that are in place to protect people and agency reporting duties
- Recognise the importance of the “One Chance Rule”
- Know where to get help
