Historic Carisbrooke to Newport Minster - 5 miles

Explore historic Carisbrooke, its medieval Church, a mighty 1,000 year old fortress Castle and Priory, then an elevated walk to Mountjoy, offering spectacular views of Newport before finishing at the magnificent Newport Minster Cafe.


Length of walk: 5 miles (approx 2 hours)

Walk Cost: Voluntary donation requested but not obligatory.

Type of Walk: Linear

Start Location: Waverley Pub Car Park, 2 Clatterford Road, Carisbrooke, PO30 1PA

Finish Location: Newport Minster, St Thomas' Square, Newport, PO30 1SL

Pace of Walk: Moderate - This walk will follow a moderate pace.

Walk grade: Fairly Strenuous - A challenging walk, suitable for fit walkers with some experience. Steep gradients, stiles and steps and uneven surfaces to be expected.

Mobility level: Walkers need to be reasonably agile and mobile. Not suitable for walkers with mobility impairment of any kind.
