Event description

Description

You will pass the famous Wake Arms named after the tree under which King Henry VIII stood to listen for the cannon that signalled the execution of his second wife Ann Boleyn.

You will then journey through magnificent Epping Forest, passing Copped Hall the former family estate of Sir Winston Churchill, now the residence of international musician, Rod Stewart. Passing the Gunpowder Mills and the 2012 Olympic White Water Rafting Centre.

The second stop on your journey is the breathtaking Queen Elizabeth hunting lodge (QEHL), situated on the edge of the Epping Forest, and one of the few remaining timber-framed buildings surviving from the 16th century. Your journey continues with a visit to the statue of Sir Winston Churchill’s, a tribute to Britain’s war time Prime Minister.

There is a break after Chigwell, where you can stop for Lunch. An inclusive two course lunch is provided.

After lunch, you will journey to Hainault Country Park where a train journey through the 300 acres of forest, farm, boating lake and golf areas, will lead us to Chigwell Row and the original Maple, where Charles Dickens stayed.
