Historical Cooking for Health - Vegan Easter
Event Information
Description
Veganism is one of our fastest growing dietary and lifestyle changes, but can present challenges in finding replacement meals at times.
In this workshop you'll learn how to replace eggs (some clever tricks), make vegan Hot Cross Buns and also make your own almond milk. There will even be some chocolate almond treats, especially for Easter. You'll leave with an understanding of what veganism means and how to follow a healthy vegan diet.
You'll create delicious healthy and appetizing recipes without animal products, whilst including nutrients vital for optimum health.
The workshop will travel back in time to see how Georgian cooks incorporated vegan dishes into their daily life and the social and health implications for both periods of history.
At the end of the course you will take away a booklet which includes recipes from the workshop, a fact sheet on the theme of the day plus tips for shopping and eating locally.
We keep the workshop small, so there are only 8 places avaliable.
This workshop is a series of 3 workshops which are a unique collaboration this Spring between The Regency Town House’s Paul Couchman, and Nutritional Therapist Lucy McCrickard from LGM Nutrition which delves into our past with Historical Cooking for Health - three themed cooking workshops in the original Town House kitchen in Hove.
These events offer the opportunity to immerse yourself in Brighton’s Regency historical culinary past, to explore nutrition of the time and understand how that translates into our modern cooking.
The other workshops are:
Friday 17th May: Food as Medicine 10am-1pm
Friday 14th June: Fermenting: Food for Healthy Digestion 2pm-5pm
