The Historical Costume Spring Picnic 2022

Saturday 9th April 2022. Newstead Abbey, Nottinghamshire, UK.

Arrival at noon or earlier, for a 1pm picnic start.

Come along in your best historical dress, any era, and join us for a day of camaraderie in Nottinghamshire!

This event is open to the general public. All ages and levels of technical skill are welcome.

The day will begin with an all-ages-welcome BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket) picnic on the grounds of Newstead Abbey, followed by an optional visit to the historic house, and photos and walks in the gardens. [TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE]

Tickets for the picnic are free, and can be booked here through Eventbrite.

Purchase of a £2 "Site Entry Ticket" for walkers, or £6 "Parking Ticket" for cars is required by Newstead Abbey, and can be bought directly from them. This can be paid for on the day, or booked online in advance.

In the evening, a historical costume 3-course dinner will be held at the Corinthian Restaurant, on historic Goldsmith Street in Nottingham city-centre. [SOLD OUT!]

Over 18s only. Tickets for the dinner cost £25 + booking fees. Special dietary requirements can be catered for. Final menu will be confirmed at a later date. We cannot guarantee disability access due to the age of the building, we apologise for any inconvenience caused - we are looking to improve accessibility for our guests with future events. More information on the dinner can be found here. Password is required to pay for a deposit - this will be sent to people allocated a ticket.

  • All eras of historical costume welcome.
  • Bring your own picnic food and blanket.
  • Bring your camera or phone to take photos.
  • Picnic starts at 1pm, but feel free to arrive earlier to make a day of it.
  • Reserving your place on the picnic is free and can be done here on Eventbrite.
  • However, purchase of a £2 "Site Entry Ticket" for walkers, or £6 "Parking Ticket" for cars is required by Newstead Abbey, and can be bought directly from them. This can be paid for on the day, or booked online in advance.
  • Visiting the historic house is optional. A £10 "Admission Ticket" can be bought directly from Newstead Abbey. These can be paid for on the day, or purchased online in advance.

  • Over 18s only.
  • All eras of historical costume welcome, but attendees may be interested to know that the venue was built in 1880, and still retains some of its later Art Deco interiors and parquet floors. Gowns and suits of "La Belle Époque" might feel right at home here.
  • All guests must pay a £5 non-refundable deposit (+ £0.98 Eventbrite booking fee) to secure their seat at the event.
  • The outstanding £20 (+ £2.15 Eventbrite booking fee), for the cost of the 3-course meal (drinks not included), can be paid at a later date. Details of how to do this will be sent out closer to the event date.
  • We cannot guarantee disability access due to the age of the building, we apologise for any inconvenience caused - we are looking to improve accessibility for our guests with future events.

Terms and conditions: By registering for a ticket for the Historical Costume Spring Picnic 2022 or Historical Costume Dinner Party 2022 (the “Events”), the Attendee understands and agrees that he/she participates in the Events entirely at his/her own risk and that no responsibility whatsoever shall attach to any Events organisers, or any person involved in the organisation of the Events for any injury, accidents, loss or damage suffered in, or by reason of, the Events, however such may be caused. The Attendee confirms that any costume worn by the Attendee, does not pose any health or safety risk to themselves or others. The Attendee should be aware of the sometimes physically strenuous nature of wearing a costume for a long period of time, and the risks of doing so, both medically and physically.
