History Day 2016: history libraries, archives & research open day
A unique one-day event for postgraduate students, early career researchers and anyone interested in history.
Join us to meet librarians and archivists from across London (and beyond) to find out what they have to offer you and your research, and participate in a series of historical debates and panel sessions.
The day includes an open history fair showcasing libraries, archives and organisations, offering individual advice for your research.
Panel sessions include:
- Public History, 10:30 to 11:15, with Prof. Lawrence Goldman (IHR), Dr Alix Green (Essex) and Dr Suzannah Lipscomb (NCH)
- Libraries versus Archives! 11:30-12:30, with Dr Julian Harrison (British Library ), Isobel Hunter (The National Archives), Victoria Northwood (Hon. Secretary, British Records Association), Dr Richard Espley (Senate House Library) and Lesley Ruthven (Goldsmiths)
- Digital research. 14:00 to 14:45, with Jonathan Blaney and Sarah Milligan (IHR) on digital citation, Seif El Rashidi (IHR) on Layers of London, and a talk on altmetrics (Brunel).
- Keep Calm and use Business Archives! (Dr Roy Edwards) 15:15 to 15:45
