2025 Spotlight Taiwan Project - Hospice Care of the Post-Republican
This talk explores artistic projects confronting Taiwan’s historical trauma, postcolonial identity and authoritarian legacy. From Territory Take Over to Republic of Cynic, Yao's projects employ satire and black comedy to critique state ideologies, expose geopolitical absurdities and reflect on individuals' psychological burdens in a cynical society.
About Jui-Chung Yao
Jui-Chung Yao is an adjunct professor at National Taiwan Normal University and the National Taipei University of the Arts. He is also an artist specialising in photography, installation and painting. His work explores the absurdity of the human condition, often focusing on ruins and power structures. He founded the Lost Society Archives in 2010 and has exhibited globally, winning multiple prestigious art awards.
