Historical Talk Series: History of the Hippodrome
Our Historical Talk Series as Pam & David Humphries come back to tread the boards at the Gunmakers. They both volunteer at the Hippodrome as tour guides, and have prepared a one-hour talk entitled “A Brief History of The Birmingham Hippodrome”.
Local landowners had capitalised on the growth of Birmingham in the 19th century and they built courts of backs to backshouses all over the town. By the 1890s those that had been built along Inge Street were being knocked down to be replaced by a circus, and then a theatre. Pam & David will bring to life the people involved and how the Hippodrome is still there.
