Join us for a fascinating evening with historian and bestselling author Philip Parker, as he takes us on a journey through time with his latest book, History of the World in Maps. From ancient Babylonian tablets to real-time digital maps, this richly illustrated volume is a stunning exploration of how maps have shaped—and been shaped by—our understanding of the world.

This beautifully designed collection includes many famous examples of cartography, along with some that deserve to be better known. Witness countries and cities come and go, empires rise and fall, significant geographical discoveries, and key historical events unfold.

Highlights include:

· The earliest Babylonian clay tablets (c. 2300 BC)

· The mystical medieval Hereford Mappa Mundi

· Rare Aztec city maps from the early 1500s

· Captain Cook’s first full chart of New Zealand

· The Selden Map of Ming Dynasty China

· Colonial cartography during the Scramble for Africa

· The Booth Poverty Map of Victorian London

· Maps from WWI, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and even the COVID-19 pandemic

Whether you're a history lover, map enthusiast, or curious explorer, this event offers a rare chance to see the past unfold through the power of maps—and to hear from the author who brings them vividly to life.
