Event description

Description

This special interactive round-table debate will be an opportunity to reflect on a year of action, or inaction, following the launch of the Global Prevention Coalition in October 2017 and the specific role of civil society and the contribution of young people in this process.

We will examine, to what extent the heralded changes have been implemented, looking specifically at political leadership and the legal and policy barriers to achieving the targets set out in the HIV Prevention 2020 Road Map.
Alongside the panel discussion, the Alliance and partners will highlight the work of prevention champions from civil society including those from southern Africa who made significant advances in HIV prevention at national level.

A host of global panellists will join us to participate in the debate from the perspective of their involvement in HIV prevention.

- Dr. Rachel Baggaley, Coordinator of HIV Testing and Prevention, WHO

- Dr. Nduku Kilonzo, Executive Director, National Aids Control Council (NACC) of Kenya

- Annah Sango, National Coordinator, Zimbabwe Young Positives (ZY+) & READY to Lead

- Grace Kumwenda, Programme Manager, PAKACHERE, Malawi

- Josephine Dominic, Legal Officer, Bar Hostess Empowerment & Support Programme (BHESP), Kenya

- Christine Stegling, Executive Director, International HIV AIDS Alliance

With closing remarks from the co-chairs of the Global Prevention Coalition, Alvaro Bermejo and Sheila Tlou.
