Description

Invitation to Hive Open Day Kilwinning Campus

On Tuesday 19th December the Hive in Kilwinning is opening its doors to all our colleagues and future students from East Ayrshire Schools. We would like to invite your guidance teachers along with any pupils who you think would benefit from visiting the Hive to meet with our staff and current students with a view to joining one of our January start courses. In January we are offering limited places on the following three courses: 24/7+, PEZ + and PEZ

24/7+. Runs from January to June 2018, three days weekly. This course offers an excellent entry point for Christmas leavers and any pupil who is eligible to leave school in the summer of 2018 and for whom an alternative to N4/N5 is a desirable route to further education opportunities. The course will focus on engaging students in personal development and life skills while exploring opportunities to progress to further college courses. The course is a mix of class room based activities, excursions and collaborative project work. The primary intake is for school leavers including exceptional early entry pupils. Application is via the college website

PEZ. Runs from January to June 2018, three days weekly. This course is a follow on course for 24/7+ but can be accessed directly for some school leavers if this is felt to be appropriate at interview. The course uses a number of themes to engage students in the further education experience: Health and Wellbeing, Creative projects, Life skills, IT and communications, Student Journey, Working with Others, Our Environment and World of Work.

PEZ+. Runs from January to June 2018, three days weekly. This course is a natural follow on from PEZ but can be accessed directly by school leavers if felt appropriate at interview. This is, however, not a common occurrence. The course explores the curriculum of further education and progression links to the jobs market in order to better prepare students for making decisions regarding their onward progression in further education and work. Much of the course work is project based where the focus is on expanding knowledge of work and education sectors. Students graduating from PEZ+ progress, in the main, to vocational courses within Ayrshire College.

The event will begin at 1 pm on Tuesday the 19th December in Kilwinning Hive. Staff and current Hive students will meet and greet visitors at the main reception.
