About this event

Our programme partner Urban House Hong Kong will take us to Brick Lane, a street now famous for its vintage shops and graffiti, hidden with traces of migrants from different cultures in the past few centuries. From the French in the 17th century, to the Jewish community between the 19th-20th centuries, to the Bangladeshis today, different generations of migrants have brought changes to the architecture and food cultures to the community. While the memories of the previous generations remain, it is where old and new, East and West, and different stories and memories meet, contributing to the diversity of this vibrant landmark.

Venue: Brick Lane (details will be sent upon successful registration)

This programme will be conducted in Cantonese with English translation

Hong Kong Film Festival UK returns for its third edition from 12–28 September in London, presenting reflective, boundary-shifting cinema from Hong Kong and the ESEA diaspora. This year’s programme foregrounds transient and transitioning identities, exploring perspectives on migration, womanhood, activism, and community. From dynamic contemporary works to intimate personal narratives, the festival centres voices that challenge, navigate, and reimagine belonging. Supported by the BFI.
