Event description

Description

On 22 September 2019 HMS MEDWAY will open to the public for free tours so you can witness first hand the capabilities of such an important vessel. The ship visit will be strictly for ticket holders only and the visit will last approximately 45 minutes.

HMS Medway is a River-class offshore patrol vessel. Along with her sister vessels, she was designed for counter-piracy, anti-smuggling, fishery protection, border patrol, counter terrorism and maritime defence duties.

The first steel was cut on HMS Medway in June 2015, at a ceremony in Glasgow. HMS Medway was formally named at BAE's Scotstoun yard on the Clyde by Lady Fallon, wife of Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon and sponsor of Medway throughout her active life, on 20 October 2017.

General Terms and Conditions of Issue:

1. Please check your ticket upon receipt. Your ticket is valid only for the number of persons, the date and the entry time slot stated on its face. Defacing the ticket will invalidate the ticket.

2. During your visit you must retain your ticket safely for production on demand by our representatives.

3. There will be no admission until the boarding time stated on your ticket. Failure to arrive by your stated boarding time will mean that you will be unable to access the ship.

4. If your ticket face displays “Local Resident” you must produce proof of residency in the postcodes listed prior to being allowed to board the vessel.

5. We are not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged tickets.

6. Security searches of both persons and bags will take place prior to boarding the ship and are a condition of entry. Please note there is no left luggage facility available and only bags measuring a maximum of 55cm x 40cm x 20 cm in size will be permitted onboard. Pushchairs may be left at your own risk. In order to ensure security and safety, we reserve the right to refuse admission or to remove you from the ship at any time.

7. The ship is an operational warship and as such all visitors must be able to move around her without assistance. The ship is large with steep ladders and hatches, and is therefore unsuitable for those with limited mobility. People with visual impairment must be accompanied as we regret that guide dogs are not permitted onboard the ship.

8. Your ticket carries no monetary value and is issued free by the Royal Navy. It cannot be exchanged once issued. If your ticket(s) is/are sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone, your ticket(s) will be void and you will not be granted access to the ship.

9. The ship and all passenger boats are non smoking.

10. Animals are not permitted onboard and there are no facilities for pets to be left.

11. The Ship is located as per the address above.

12. Your visit to the ship is at all times subject to the direction, supervision and guidance of our staff. We reserve the right at our discretion to alter our advertised arrangements for the visit, cancel any time slot and/or close the visit without notice. Whilst we will endeavor to keep arrangements in place, the ship is an operational ship and as such these arrangements may change at any time.

Treat your tickets with the same security as your own money. If copies are made, the first ticket scanned at the event will be allowed entry. Subsequent scans (whether of the original or copies) will not be allowed entry.
