Description
HMS St Albans is visiting Holyhead for the North Wales Armed Forces Day.
On Saturday 25 May HMS St Albans will allow members of the public to tour the ship for free. Please note that due to space restrictions onboard members of the public will be unable to actually see inside the vessel but will be able to tour the upper deck and have the opportunity to see some of the equipment used onboard, weapons systems, and an opportunity to speak with members of the ships company.
The ship will be berthed in Holyhead Port but there will be coach transport to take you there and bring you back. The coach will depart from opposite the Coast Guard Office on Prince of Wales Road.
PLEASE NOTE: For health and safety reasons we cannot accept any child under the age of 5 years old on this tour.
HMS St Albans, the sixteenth and last of the Royal Navy's Type 23 frigates to be built, was launched on 6 May 2000. Constructed by BAE Systems at Scotstoun, she was delivered to the Royal Navy in November 2001.
HMS St Albans is the UK’s on-duty warship and is sailed by a crew of 185. With five Radar systems, six Sonar systems and eight Weapon systems, St Albans is one of the most versatile warships in the world. She sailed more than 38,000 miles on Operation Kipion working with carrier task groups.
General Terms and Conditions of Issue:
1. Please check your ticket upon receipt. Your ticket is valid only for one person on the date and the entry time slot stated on its face. Defacing the ticket will invalidate the ticket.
2. During your visit you must retain your ticket safely for production on demand by our representatives.
3. We are not liable for any lost, stolen or damaged tickets.
4. Your ticket carries no monetary value and is issued free by the Royal Navy. It cannot be exchanged once issued. If your ticket(s) is/are sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone, your ticket(s) will be void and you will not be granted access to the ship.
5. There must be at least one person in each party over the age of 18. For health and safety reasons children must be a minimum of 5 years old. There is no maximum age for visitors however all guests must be able to make their own way around the vessel and all children must hold their own ticket and be accompanied by a ticket holder over the age of 18.
6. HMS St Albans is an operational warship and as such all visitors must be able to move around her without assistance. The ship has steep ladders and hatches and is therefore unsuitable for those with limited mobility. People with visual impairment must be accompanied as we regret that guide dogs are not permitted onboard the ship.
7. You should arrive at the coach pick up point 15 minutes prior to the boarding time stated on your ticket. Failure to arrive by your stated boarding time will mean that you may be unable to access the ship.
8. In the interests of security, any person who enters this ship does so on the basis that they give consent to their person and possessions being searched prior to boarding and at any time while on the ship. The booking of tickets will be taken as written consent for the above. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time, but should you do so you will not be allowed to enter the ship.
9. Security searches of both persons and bags will take place prior to boarding the ship and are a condition of entry. Please note there is no left luggage facility available and only bags measuring a maximum of 55cm x 40cm x 20 cm in size will be permitted onboard. Pushchairs cannot be taken onboard but may be left at your own risk. In order to ensure security and safety, we reserve the right to refuse admission or to remove you from the ship at any time.
10. Prohibited items not allowed onboard include and are not exclusive to:
• Guns, firearms and other devices that discharge projectiles
• Firearms of all types, such as pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, toy guns, replicas and imitation firearms
• Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge
• Workmen's tools
• Blunt instruments
• Explosives and incendiary substances and devices
11. Animals are not permitted onboard and there are no facilities for pets to be left.
12. The ship and all visitor handling areas are non-smoking.
13. Photography is permitted onboard in certain areas. Your onboard hosts will advise when photos should not be taken.
14. Your visit to the ship is at all times subject to the direction, supervision and guidance of our staff. We reserve the right at our discretion to alter our advertised arrangements for the visit, cancel any time slot and/or close the visit without notice. Whilst we will endeavour to keep arrangements in place, HMS St Albans is an operational ship and as such these arrangements may change at any time.
