About this event
Hogmanay “ceilidh”
As you probably know by now Nicola Sturgeon has ordered new anti-covid restrictions (1m distancing & table service) which make it impossible to run a normal ceilidh.
Rather than cancel we have decided to run a “folk club” event. The band will play some traditional Scottish dance tunes, sing some well-known Scottish songs with choruses (e.g. Auld Lang Syne) which you may be able to sing along with, and tell some jokes. If you know some jokes, you can tell them – your chance to be a stand-up comedian. Please note that there will be no dancing – sorry, but it’s better than nothing.
Please arrive early with proof of vaccination and a -ve covid test. These can be obtained free from most chemists but get them as soon as possible because of holidays and supply problems. Please wear a face mask when moving about the venue. There will be tables of different sizes and individual chairs 1m apart so choose a suitable place for your group. Please do not share a table with strangers. There will be a cash only table service for drinks.
