Event description

Description

This event is for anyone involved in improving the Hogsmill River for people and wildlife. It's a chance for volunteers, local organisations and residents to come together and find out about the work that's been going on along the river in the last year, as well as what's in store for the future.

The event is run by South East Rivers Trust on behalf of the Hogsmill Catchment Partnership.

Draft Programme

10:15 Arrival, tea and coffee

10:30 Riverfly Monitoring – creature features (find out a bit more about the creatures our volunteers monitor), 2018 results and group discussion – Kathy Friend & Sue Skipp, Environment Agency and Jess Mead, South East Rivers Trust.

11.30 Thames Water’s work on Hogsmill Outfalls – Helena Gibert, Thames Water.

12.15 Fish Passage on the Hogsmill - 2018’s project at the Hogsmill Sewage Treatment Works – Toby Hull, South East Rivers Trust.

12.45 Invasive species monitoring and future plans for volunteer activity on the river- Jess Mead, South East Rivers Trust

13.00 Break for lunch

13.30 Guided walk along the Hogsmill. Find out more about the history of the Hogsmill and how this urban chalk stream has been shaped over the years. Lead by Stewart Cocker, Epsom and Ewell Borough Council.
